Ben Stokes Believes He’s Completed The Innings for England, But He Is Surprised. WATCH

On Friday, Australia and England fought it out in the final T20I match of their three-match series. A bizarre incident occurred during the game. England all-rounder Ben Stokes began walking off the field after the last delivery of England’s innings. He thought the shot he hit was going for a boundary. Stokes was shocked to see the ball stopped by the fielder, and decided that he would have to accept a single delivery.

Stokes ran quickly to grab the single, but fell at the non-striker’s end. Jos Buttler sent him back after he got up and ran for a second, non-existent run. Stokes made it through the run-out and got his bat back before Glenn Maxwell could take the bails off. Cricket Australia shared a video of the chaos on its official Twitter account. Since being posted just hours ago, the post has been viewed more than 1,56,000 times.

The match was abandoned because of bad weather. Australia breathed a sigh relief, as they managed to avoid losing the series 3-0. Aaron Finch, the Australian skipper, won the toss earlier and chose to field at Manuka Oval Stadium. Josh Hazlewood & Pat Cummins quickly dismissed Alex Hales & Dawid Malan, who were outfielded for 0 runs and 23 runs, respectively.

After a rain delay, Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes joined Jos in the middle to close the England innings. Buttler was unbeaten with 65 runs from 41 deliveries. Stokes had 17 runs off 10 balls and England posted 112/2 in 12 innings. Finch and Mitchell Marsh were both dismissed for golden duck in Australia’s second innings.

Glenn Maxwell was sent back to the pavilion after Woakes gave him 8 of 9 balls. Australia ended up at 3-17 in 2.5 innings. After scoring 13 runs, Marcus Stoinis and Steven Smith scored 13 runs each before the game was called off because of rain. England won the three-match series by 2-0. Jos Buttler was awarded the player of series award.
